In January 2020 appointed as the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Geopolitical Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Suriname. She was Acting is this position from May 2018.


From February 2012 – March 2018 she was the First Secretary, Alternate Representative of the Republic of Suriname to the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C. As of 5

November 2015, she was also assigned as the Interim Representative

of the Republic of Suriname to the OAS.


In  her  capacity  as  Interim  Representative  she  Represented  the Republic of Suriname to the OAS and was responsible for the multilateral -, diplomatic - and political work in the OAS. She was also responsible for the administrative work in the Mission.


As First Secretary her primarily duties were related to the OAS Integral Development pillar. This pillar has the focus to eradicate poverty and to work on sustainable development for the Region. She also represented her country at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Inter-American Commission on Women of the OAS (CIM).


Mrs. Sachi Soekhoe started her diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the

Republic of Suriname in 1999.


Before her posting in 2012 she was the Coordinator of the America’s Division with the bilateral responsibilities for South-, North- and Central America and also the Caribbean region. As coordinator she has worked among others in the negotiations in the Association of  Caribbean  States  (ACS)  with  the  focus  on  sustainable  tourism  and transport.  In  the Caribbean she was involved in the establishment of the CARICOM Single Market and the Caribbean Court of Justice and was also member of the CARICOM Security Commission dealing with regional security aspects and policy making.


As a Senior desk – Officer at the Europe Division from 2002-2008, she dealt with the foreign policy of the countries in Europe and the diplomatic representation of Suriname in Europe, among others France, Brussels and The Hague. In this capacity she was also involved in the trade  negotiations  within  the  African-,  Caribbean-,  and  Pacific  States  (ACP)  and  the European Union (EU).


Had  the  opportunity  to  serve  as  a  Protocol  Officer  and  gained  skills  in  organizing conferences and meetings in Paramaribo, Suriname. She was also junior Protocol Officer for the section Immunities and Privileges of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname in the year 2000.


Also  represented  her  country  at  several  International  and  Regional  Meetings  and  has  an advisory – and reporting role in these Meetings.


Is also qualified teacher for Law for higher education.


She has a licentiate Degree in Law from the Anton De Kom University of Suriname. She has also completed post-graduate studies in Diplomacy, Contemporary International Relations and Development and professional courses in International Relations and Management.


Mrs. Sachi Soekhoe was born on 30 October 1975 in Paramaribo, Suriname, is married and has a son.


She is fluent in Dutch, English, Sarnami-Hindi, and Spanish (intermediate).
