Astrid Belliot- Buitenman

Mrs Astrid Belliot-Buitenman started her career at the Government of Suriname in 1981. She has held several positions and contributed to various functions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2010 she became Head of Policy Advisor and in 2012 she was appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary responsible for International Development Cooperation.

In August 2021, based on her knowledge, skills and experience in International Cooperation, she was appointed Permanent Secretary of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation.

In additional to her professional career Mrs. Belliot-Buitenman has been very active with several NGO’s. In her capacity as a government official and as an NGO Representative, she has been in contact with almost all government agencies, NGO’s as well as the private sector.

Some of her mayor achievements included projects benefiting women and children, agricultural projects, development projects for dropouts, among others.

As Permanent Secretary of International Cooperation, her task entails the coordination of International Cooperation including bilateral and multilateral relationships in an efficient and effective manner.

Mrs. Belliot-Buitenman holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration degree (major Management and minor Development Sociology) from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and a Master of Public Administration in Governance, of the FHR Lim A Po Institute for Social Studies in Suriname.

Her hobbies include: spending quality time with family, gardening, cooking, reading and sport.
